The fifth child in a family of seven children, Lim migrated from China’s Fujian province in 1937 at the age of 19. Although with a US$175 capital, he still managed to climb his way up the hill facing all the obstacles and challenges to build the great Genting in Malaysia which is standing tall till today.
The tycoon, who turned 90 this April started this brilliant idea of Genting when he was working on a hydro electric power project in Cameron Highlands in 1964 where mostly British colonials were working at the project. They were looking for a place which were cooling far from the tropical hear. Lim came out with an idea and implemented Genting as a mountain holiday resort.
Although my blog is all about sports but I would like to take this opportunity to pay tribute to Tan Sri Lim Goh Tong for making the impossible possible! May you rest in peace Tan Sri Lim Goh Tong.
